Meet the team

Julia Harris
Mother of two, Julia Harris, is managing director and owner of The Housekeeper Company and responsible for client liaison and the overall running of the business. She set up North West Childcare in 1999 when she was disappointed with the quality of agency she encountered in her own search for a nanny for her sons.
The success of her expanding company, and ongoing contact with client families, led to the identification of another gap in the domestic workers’ market, quality housekeeping and household management professionals. As a result of increased demand for this aspect of the business, The Housekeeper Company was ‘born’ in 2004.
Following demand from delighted Housekeeper Company clients across London, Julia subsequently launched the Childcare Recruitment Company, in 2007, which has gone on to emulate the success of its northern counterpart providing first class childcare for families.
Similarly, as there has been increased requirement for housekeeper/carers over the past few years, Julia identified a need for a specialist agency dealing with carer positions and thus in April 2011, The Carer Company was established.
As ardent campaigners in various lobbying issues relating to domestic workers, Julia and colleagues have contributed to various TV documentaries on the subject.
Julia is a passionate advocate for families’ rights to quality and flexible childcare and has campaigned for the introduction of regulation of all nanny agencies in England. She is a member of the Executive of the REC Childcare Sector Group and has advised Granada Media on a Coronation Street storyline involving nannies and her expert views on childcare, eldercare, domestic staff, including housekeepers have featured in the local and national press.
As Julia explains, she often has found herself in a similar situation to most of her client families and instinctively knows the best housekeeping or childcare solution to recommend: ‘As a mother myself, I know exactly what I’d want for my own children and my own home, and I instinctively apply those same rules for my clients.’
Pia Goldsack
Known as a “mother hen” to hundreds of Filipino women living the UK, former teacher, Pia Goldsack, has been successfully recruiting Filipino housekeepers for British families since 1992.
While Julia handles the client side of the business, Pia concentrates on sourcing applicants and helping to resolve any problems they may have. Her care and concern for her candidates runs far deeper than in a conventional candidate-agency relationship. Pia is also a regular contributor to the Filipino Press, with her friendly, practical advice for Filipino housekeepers.
